Updating Security Key Driver Software
Structural Material Manager may report that its USB security key is not detected when, in fact, the key is properly connected to the PC. This can happen when Windows updates or antivirus program updates disturb the driver software that coordinates communication with the key. In most cases, the problem can be solved by removing the key, uninstalling Sentinel Protection Installer at the Programs area of Windows Control panel, rebooting the PC, reinstalling the driver software and finally reconnecting the key. Skipping any one of the steps - especially removal of Sentinel Protection Installer at the Control Panel - usually prevents success.
